I ordered this to be able to see my backyard when I take my dog to the bathroom at night. Right off the bat. If you're using this for spotlight or floodlight, you will need several in a row about 4 feet apart. if you just want a little bit of ambience what you have going, this is your light .
This would likely be ideal for a fence post or some sort of walkway or decorative lighting. I installed it above my carriage garage doors and it looks nice, but isn't there to illuminate for safety or much usage. It gathers solar power well and the light it puts off is beautiful. The on/off switch is on the back, requiring that you take it down from wherever it's installed if you want to press the on/off button. That being said, I never have a need to do that; I just leave it on and the lights turn on at dusk. It was very simple to install - just two screws. Since it has both uploghting and down lighting, it really creates a stunning effect no matter where you place it.
This is a modern appearing solar-charged light. I appreciate that there is no wiring involved as it is totally DIY. It charges with the Sun and stays on most of the night. The fixture comes with a template that allows you to hang the base-holding screws accurately. You then fit the base onto the screws where it can be easily removed. Because I have it situated under a canopy I usually have to remove it daily and let it charge directly under the sunlight. It manages to throw an below-average beam of light. I would think of this as more of a small coverage accent light rather than a light that will provide wide coverage. The LEDS top and bottom spread little illumination and give more of a twinkly effect. I still need to use a recessed light above to provide adequate illumination. This light box seems a little pricey for what it accomplishes but if you like the idea of not needing an electrician or the extra work to wire and install this just might work for you. Just don't expect the light you would get from an AC powered lamp.
The solar light was surprisingly bright! Seems well constructed, with 8 total LEDs. 4 on top and 4 on bottom. I like the dust til dawn setting, where it turned on automatically at dusk. The mounting hardware was nice and seems solid enough for the fixture. The housing feels very solid, it looks metal but might be plastic. It's hard to tell. I only wish it came as a pairing instead of one!
